I’ve never fully sunk enough hours into the Souls games to confidently say what’s good or bad. I’ve played Dark Souls 1-3 but haven’t finished any of them. However, Elden Ring is without a doubt a fantastic game that I could sink hours into. It’s incredibly supportive to inexperienced players or just people who don’t have a lot of time for video games anymore.
Essentially, that’s how I feel about Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s a game that Capcom decided would be their Elden Ring, focusing on the nitty-gritty of a plot that doesn’t really speak to me, but might engage others.
The game released two weeks ago, and I’ve now done everything I wanted to do. There is no point in advancing further, as there simply isn’t enough content available yet. This sets it apart from other Monster Hunter titles, which felt like they had more to offer gamers even after beating the game.
I can’t lie when I say that I’m a little disappointed it’s over so quickly. I know there will be more content in the near future, but after playing Wilds, all I can think about is going back and playing the older games. I want to experience that intensity of trying to complete a mission by myself, just like I did when I was a kid.
